A downloadable playtest for Windows

A simple, Top-Down shooter created in the space of a week.

This is by no means a stand-alone game, but rather a prototype mini-game that was used to test specific background systems for a larger project which is still in development.

I've included it here solely as an example of the type of playtesting processes I have created before. If you're interested, feel free to give it a try!

The dynamic background systems, playtest build, tools, and survey were created by Erik Prinz. The music files were created by my partner, Rodwin Malinga.

Note that playtesters were not informed of the type of data we were hoping to find - this was to ensure that their responses were honest and natural. The paragraph following this one describes what we were looking for. If you refrain from reading it, you'll be experiencing the build just as one of the initial playtesters did. Said paragraph will also explain how to access some developer analysis tools I'd built into this playtest. How you wish to engage with the playtest is completely up to you.

Our current project allows the player to create unique, dynamic music. This playtest was investigating the format that this dynamic music should take, as well as its value, notability, and effect on gameplay. In this build, the player's play style is analysed based on its mobility, offense and defense. This information is then used to guide the background music to match their play style. To see some more information about your current play style and the background music systems, try pressing 'K' to access the developer analytics while you're playing.
