A downloadable game for Windows

Do you enjoy puzzles? Do you like crates?? Do you love Lasers?!

SokuBeam is a top-down puzzler in which you'll need to redirect and augment lasers to progress through the testing facility. This little prototype explores everything from reflection to colour mixing, and has the potential to be expanded into a longer experience.

Hey! You made an awesome puzzle game! Here's what I thought:

1st the main Mechanics!

You immediately move in a direction you choose with the joystick (if you are using a controller) and it feels strange because you can't look in a direction before moving. When completing the first puzzles you may laser yourself into a restart. At first, I thought it was strange because when colliding with an object it was less collision and more interaction, which is not what I expected. As I played more this seemed to be intentional, there were levels where it would be easier to solve if you could look before committing to movement because you couldn't look before the leap, you had to think about the constraints a little more. This was cool but still a little frustrating to control in other areas.

2nd Difficulty!

The levels started progressing with a gentle incline and suddenly got incredibly difficult near the end. Sometimes it felt like you would have a mechanic introduced, a practice level, and then a descent into hell. I think these were the bonus levels but they were part of the progression. It felt like maybe there could've been more applications in more levels so that the player could connect the ideas more easily. I think that this might not be an issue because it was still solvable but I think my main point is that the progression felt crazy at times.

3rd Bugs!

There weren't any bugs that I ran into except with the character model having a weird frame when moving.

4th General Feedback!

There were so many cool and unique levels! Levels with mechanic overlap and idea progressions! I really enjoyed the levels with reflectors. Being able to find the correct path without lasering yourself or restarting hit all the feel good buttons in my brain.

The beam direction was difficult to identify at times.

Some of my favourite levels were the ones where you could be misdirected in terms of what you had to do to proceed because of a previous level's solution.

That's all from me! I had a great time and would love to play more!
